MSK Biobank: Biofluids Division (former HOTB)

About the MSK Biobank Biofluids Division

The Biobank Biofluids Division is a centralized, comprehensive resource for banking of human biological specimens to support research using primary human cells and tissue.  This facility provides cell and tissue-based specimens from patients with hematologic malignancies for investigator-initiated experimentation in vitro.  Comparable materials are also available from healthy volunteers, although these are more limited in quantity and scope.  The Biofluids Division implements stringent quality control standards to ensure consistent, validated biologic products for investigators using this shared resource. TheBiofluids Division facilitates and optimizes research use of human biological specimen samples while protecting patients' rights in human research through an IRB-PB-sanctioned biospecimen collection protocol and informed consent process.

TheBiofluids Division follows a standard procedure for all requests of human biospecimens for research. Investigators requiring banked human biological specimens for research must gain an IRB approval Biospecimen Research Protocol (BRP) (or 12-245 Appendix C for Clonal Hematopoiesis samples) before submitting a request for samples.  For more information on theBiofluids Division, including How To documents and SOPs, please see our SharePoint page, which can be accessed using the above link.
